    Excellent base for a holiday in the Lake District

    Spotless, convenient, and highly recommended! The room had everything needed for a perfect overnight stay. The hosts were wonderfully helpful and provided secure parking for my motorbike. Excellent location too—only a 5–10 minute stroll to the shops and restaurants.

    Best shower after a long day exploring.

    The room was so clean, the bed was really cosy and the shower was the best! We had stayed two days at another guest house in the area and Abacus House was far better, really welcoming and homely.

    Nothing, we wished we could have stayed longer.

    I had an amazing stay at Abacus Guest House! The location is right in the centre of Windermere, and Carmel is one of the best hosts I’ve ever met! 🥹 The room was lovely and cosy, with beautiful and thoughtful decorations. What surprised me the most was that they even provided an emergency kit in the drawer! All the little details really show how considerate they are towards their guests. They also provided a clean kettle and all the tableware I needed, which I really appreciated. I had such a lovely stay here and would highly recommend this place if you’re travelling to the Lake District! 💛
