  A charming little cottage in the heart of The King Valley.

  The cottage was perfect for what we wanted. A comfortable space for a week that felt like home and had everything we needed! We loved the heated blankets and the ability to do laundry. The back yard was perfect for our pup who loves to watch birds and hunt for lizards! Very secure. The inclusion of bread and milk was lovely but it took us 2 days to get the bread from the general store due to them being out of stock and not having set something aside. The cottage was well stocked with tea and coffee pods as well as jams. There was a choice of 3 bedrooms to sleep in. We didn’t choose what appeared to be the main bedroom due to the height of the bed but opted for the room closest to the living area which was very comfortable and a good size for us. Again, equipped with heated blankets which we just loved! You’ll feel right at home here. The cottage is charming and full of everything you need. It’s a 5 minute wander to the pub and the local coffee shop. Whitfield is a good location to base yourself when exploring the King Valley.

  While on the surface, the cottage appeared clean and linens were definitely fresh, there was a build up of dust, hair and debris in the corners of the bathroom as well as around the laundry appliances. I believe the non carpeted areas had been vacuumed but not mopped prior to our arrival. The split system air con wasn’t the most effective so unless you had it running 24/7 it was hard to feel warm in the house. There was a draught coming through the front and back doors which made the cottage feel cold so we used towels to block the bottoms of the doors. The front yard could definitely be more secure for those travelling with a dog. While fenced, there’s a low section of wire fencing between the cottage and the neighbours yard about waist high and any curious dog could hop it and the gate to the road was never closed at the neighbouring house. There were also some sections of the main fence with gaps at ground level where small dogs could get through but won’t be an issue if you keep the dog entirely to the back yard - our boy just loved both! We generally don’t book any accomodation that claim to be pet friendly but say “pets not allowed on furniture and beds” - to us, that’s not truly pet friendly as if they’re usually allowed at home, it’s almost impossible to change that when travelling. However I was disappointed that this wasn’t anywhere on the listing but was written in a welcome book on arrival. More transparency around that would’ve been appreciated to reduce the worry we felt having to manage that. We didn’t find the fire setup the most comfortable to enjoy due to being in the front yard and surrounded by benched seating so didn’t use it more than once.

  Acorn cottage was an excellent spot to explore the beautiful King valley area. The cottage is extremely comfortable and beautifully styled. There is everything you need provided.

  Fantastic house in beautiful location

  Beautifully set up; three good bedrooms; well equipped kitchen with breakfast provisions. Even included dishwasher tablets and washing machine pods. Outside had a great table and chairs
