A mixed bag of pleasant surprises and stark disappointments. On the whole, my expectations were not

The chance to get away form the rat race and relax in the wild bush of the low veld and to spend the time to connect with family. Feeding buck from the patio was a blessing. The host kindly provided a plastic chair for the shower for my wife, who is disabled. The facilities were clean.

Inconsistent instructions on making the booking and then corresponding with the host in respect of getting the keys: booking says to print and complete a "guest registration form" and copy of ID and bring this to the location to collect the keys, which was not required when I collected the keys. The key collection location provided in the booking instructions versus the host were not the same. The facility is advertised as wheelchair friendly, which is partly true: the ground floor area is accessible, but the other facilities, like the TV area and hot tub are up stairs and not accessible so were of now value/benefit to me and my wife. The inaccessibility of some of these facilities for the handicapped is NOT disclosed on the website, so is misleading. The kitchen was missing some basics like a potato peeler, oven mitts and scissors, and the knives were extremely blunt. There is a hair drier, but no plug to fit it. The toilet and the shower in the Zebra room leaked, and door handle on door is loose. Many window handles in the house are loose. Drain at the food preparation area at the outside fireplace was blocked. Before arriving, I was advised there is no braai grill, so I purchased one on the way, only to find that there is in fact a braai grill - for the price, I'd expect a braai grill to be there, and then also be given correct information so as not to incur the unnecessary expense of purchasing one. On Marloth Park itself, where I had never been before: there was construction taking place in the area of 714 Hornbill, with angle grinding and hammering intermittently through most of the days. It is impossible for a handicapped person to use a wheel chair in the area, with no paved sidewalks or pathways - which excluded my wife from any outdoor movement in the area, other than travelling by car to the restaurants in the area.

A beautiful, peaceful bush escape that we truly enjoyed.

We loved the true bush experience — the peaceful surroundings, the beautiful house, and the animals roaming freely around the property. The house itself was stunning and very comfortable. The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped and had everything we needed during our stay. It was a perfect getaway and a really special experience.

The outdoor lighting by the table was a little dim, but it was a minor issue overall.

The wildlife and the villa were a very impressive experience that we will never forget.

The wildlife and the villa were a very impressive experience that we will never forget. The two parks (Kruger and Marloth) offer a unique experience.

Occasional monkeys on the terrace 🐒 – charming, but please don’t leave your breakfast unattended.
