Excellent location, quiet despite of being at train station. Ideal to catch train to visit all villages and to book a bo
Actually right above the train station and so so quiet. Did not hear a peep of noise despite this! Absolutely ideal for travel to and from Cinque Terre. **Would not recommend taking luggage and staying in any of the 5 villages as there is no need** McDonalds and milk bar food available underneath hotel outside and great internet. A great shower and staff were both helpful and respectful - they held our bags for us for 90 mins on our checkout day while we waited for train to Milan. Also got breakfast vouchers for each day for hot drink, juice and pastry each morning at cafe just a mere 150m walk away each day. Communication of how to find the hotel and entry point, including photo’s was the best I have ever received. Very convenient for walking short distance to restaurants and shops just in main streets of La Spezia and we ate at these restaurants each night.
Only two negatives to mention: 1) had to climb 3 sets of 12 stairs (marble and not too steep, & more shallow than some) from curb to 1st floor of hotel - not a big deal but suitcase lugging is not my favourite part of holidaying AND 2) bed - mattress was as hard as a rock as base is a metal rack with firm single 25cm (approx deep) mattress on it which has no give. I am > 50 yo and overweight and appreciate a soft bed ideally with cushioning or foam topper. I am also knowing this is a ‘picky’ but very honest comment. Beds are VERY important to me on holiday.
