Wonderful, huge, historic, and not your usual kind of place.
This is a fabulous, unusual luxury apartment that feels special. It has a disheveled elegance (and it is HUGE) that was a delightful change from cookie cutter places.
The bathroom for one of the bedrooms is tiny, and it was hot (but we were able to get a fan). There was loud student noise at 6 AM.

Die Lage des Hauses ist perfekt um die Stadt zu Fuß zu erkunden und Essen zu gehen. In der Straße und auf der Terrasse hat man einen tollen Überblick über den Fluss und das gegenüber liegende Ufer. Die Parkplatzsituation in der Stadt ist etwas schwierig. Ana ist eine herausragende, sehr sympathische und empathische Gastgeberin. Da ich kein Gluten und auch keine Lactose vertrage (Unverträglichkeit) hat sich Ana sehr gewissenhaft die Mühe gemacht, geeignete Lebensmittel zu organisieren. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker.

Top Lage aber für ältere Gäste nur bedingt empfehlenswert
Die Lage ist unübertroffen gut und Ana ist eine sehr freundliche und zuvorkommende Gastgeberin.
Es ist halt kein Hotel und von daher ist mit gewissen Einschränkungen zu leben. Die Wohnung ist riesig aber in einem alten Gebäude ohne Lift und das Bad ist winzig. Die Parkmöglichkeiten sind extrem eingeschränkt. Falls man überhaupt einen Parkplatz in der sehr engen Strasse findet, darf man dort offiziell nur maximal 6 Stunden für ca. 5 Euro stehen bleiben.

Coimbra's historic old town and university were the main reasons for visiting. With its character and prominent location, Alto Canto is perfect on both counts. A hearty breakfast set me for the day as did the helpful recommendations that guided me to places I would not have otherwise gone to. Great communication throughout a bonus.
For the environmentally conscious traveller, some recycling bins on site are appreciated as they are hard to find in town. The mini bar in the room will be an excellent way of promoting Portugal's wonderful food and drink. Thank you.
