    Loved Varenna, but Annina’s House could use a refresh.

    The location is everything here, but the steps are tricky everywhere in the town , however it is a charming location

    The bed pillows and bed were very hard and the bathroom is no frills - it was damp and the towels would not dry well. The walk from the train station, even with our small Bags, was challenging. Initially when we booked the stay, Maria said she would pick us up at the train station, but when we arrived and we contacted her, she said to take a taxi or walk - apparently she has no car. There were no taxis that day - I think they were all busy , it’s a big wedding destination. Book a taxi ahead of time, but you will still have to do stairs to get to the actual apartment . Bring your own washcloths (of course if this is your thing) and tissues. There is no coffee pot but plenty of tea bags and a hot water kettle and microwave and the kitchenette has what you’ll need to get by .

    A cute apartment In a great location Handy to the piazza & mini markets, surrounded by restaurants & only 50 metres to the waters edge. The greeting we received from Maria & Pietro on arrival was amazing
