We were charmed by the Victorian look and feel of the inn, originally built in 1874..The independently owned inn has, of course, been modernized. Our room was clean and cozy, and offered all we needed for a comfortable stay. Our breakfast was delicious.
We did like our room, but it was small.

Great location for walks into town and close to the trail along the lake.

This place is so fully worth the price. Book it, now.
So, you know how so many things are a mess in the world these days? You know how everything is too fast and too complicated? I am happy to let people know that you need not travel to the middle of Australia to escape everything and feel like it's all okay. I had no idea what I was getting into when I booked this room. I just needed a place to stay. What I found was a trip back in time where things are slower, simpler, better. This hotel is like how things should/could be, if people paid attention to what matters and what it's like to treat others with respect and dignity. We felt so relaxed and happy here. We were fortunate to meet the owner and discuss her hotel with her. They are so passionate about what they do and what they provide there, and they hire people who are knowledgeable about running hotels, not just folks who need a job, and it shows. If you want glitzy and showy and to be distracted by lights and shiny things rather than actually have things thought through and done for you, this is not your place. If you want to feel cared about and wander through a genuinely beautiful building where things are done right, and be well fed by a chef who takes pride in their work, this is your place. Simply the best hotel experience of my very well traveled life.
I don't live there full time.
