    A perfect place to stay when visiting Orkney.

    An ideal, quiet location about a mile west of Kirkwall with great views towards the city and the sea. Welcoming host, comfortable room, delicious breakfasts. We had stayed here previously in October 2025 and highly recommend Aultnagar.

    There really is nothing to dislike.

    Ideal place for a short stay in Orkney. We wanted to stay longer.

    The location was perfect, about a mile from Kirkwall center, But on the side of a hill with a great view. Easy drive. Breakfast was very relaxed, help yourself with fruit, yogurt, and local breads. Our host Laura made us porridge one morning, which was wonderfully comforting on a cold rainy morning. Ample on-site parking, so convenient.

    Laura asked us to remove our outside shoes before going to our room. But, given all the rain & mud, totally understandable. Also no restaurants or pubs nearby; we knew this before booking. So we did our dining before returning for the evening. Just took a bit of planning.
