    Communing with nature

    Ayatana was indeed a restful place - the leafy trees, misty mountains and birdsong were beautiful. The house itself was comfortable, with all the facilities you would expect. The coffee machine was particularly welcome and saved a morning trip into town. The deck was a great spot for chilling, chatting and generally soaking in the peaceful vibe.

    We liked it all - including the wander down to the pool and the overgrown bush track. The sleepy snake curled up by the pool was slightly off-putting, but harmless.

    Peaceful stay for a large group

    Our group had a wonderful stay in Bellingen. The host Cass was lovely and super responsive and made sure we had everything we needed. It’s only an 8-minute drive into town where there’s a handful of decent food options and shops to explore. The accommodation itself is in a quiet, secluded spot surrounded by lush greenery. It’s a little bit tired and worn but the beds are comfy and it made for a super relaxing stay for our group (which included a dog). We tried to walk down the bush track to the creek but it was too overgrown and we encountered leeches. If you’re looking for a gorgeous natural swimming spot, it’s worth driving ~12 minutes to check out the Never Never River in The Promised Land (Angel Gabriel Capararo Reserve on Google Maps).
