Great location away from city center
There were definitely some things I enjoyed about this B&B, but also a few things that made our stay more challenging than expected. The location is a real plus if you prefer to stay outside the busy city center. There are two bus stops just feet from the B&B, and the neighborhood itself is lovely and much quieter than central Rome. We could walk about 10–15 minutes to several good restaurants, grocery stores, and banks. The challenge was that the bus schedule was extremely unreliable. On our first attempt to take the bus into the city, we waited more than an hour while the arrival time continued to be pushed back. Because we had timed tours and reservations, we couldn’t risk relying on the bus. If you stay here and have a schedule to keep, be prepared to use taxis. Over our three days, I spent more than $200 USD on taxis getting to and from the city center. The garden was beautiful and one of my favorite features. There are many varieties of fruit trees, and guests are welcome to pick and enjoy the fruit, which was a really nice touch. I was also a little confused about the “breakfast” portion of our stay. I specifically chose B&Bs throughout our Italy trip because I wanted breakfast included. There was a kitchen with snacks available, along with a meat and cheese plate in the refrigerator. We were told breakfast was at 7:00 a.m., but during our stay, breakfast was never served or prepared. Perhaps we misunderstood the arrangement, but there wasn’t any information explaining that guests were expected to prepare their own breakfast or cook eggs themselves. After traveling for nearly 24 hours, we arrived tired and were given a lot of information about how everything worked before being left on our own. We made the best of it, but clearer instructions about breakfast would have made a big difference. The shower water also never became more than barely warm. It wasn’t a huge issue for us, but it’s something future guests may want to know.
