A comfortable, enjoyable stay enhanced by Giovanni the host.
It was an excellent location, just a 3 minute walk to the Cathedral Square. It was quiet at night but we were there at off peak season. It could be noisy at peak season as there was a bar right below our balcony. We had breakfast in the bar that belongs to the property - coffee, croissant, orange juice. Giovanni the owner was a great host and very helpful.
The mattress on our bed was very soft but that's just me as I like a firmer one.

Great location! Beautiful decoration!
Room exceeded expectations, large and beautifully decorated. Bathroom was good, with lovely finishings and plenty of hot water. Breakfast is very good. Nice croissants and sometimes delicious Sicilian pastries. Best thing for me was a beach at the end of the road where you can go snorkelling and watch the sunrise every morning. This is non pareil in my opinion.
The only thing which was a slight annoyance was bottles being emptied into and out of bins in the street below in the early evening as restaurants close and in the later morning. There is nothing much the owner can do about that as this is a restaurant and bar district and everybody drinks lots of wine and water so I guess the refuse is dominated by noisy glass items. The cure was easily found, earphones and playing music to myself solved noise surprises. There isn't really a reception so when I arrived a bit earlier than I thought I would, I had to wait for the bar to open on the corner and Whatsapp message the owner to be let into the room. But there as a comfortable lounge and free tea to drink while waiting so that wasn't a bad experience. The owner is shy and quite proud in a Italian or Sicilian way so not gushy or obsequious or smiling all the time, but this wasn't offensive to me.

Wonderful home base from which to explore lovely Ortigia
The location cannot be beat. We loved this cozy home away from home. My family stayed in three of the six rooms and felt like it was our own place. The little balconies/terrace were lovely. Giovanni is a wonderful host. He makes a great cup of coffee!
The in room AC unit was a little leaky but we let Giovanni know about it.
