Would stay again, with some plannning
The house is very pretty and in an incredibly quiet location - there was rarely any noise at all, except for the occasional car on the B-road and some local birds. It was nice to see the sheep though they kept their distance. The bedroom was nice and warm. There is a Spar nearby which is well stocked and opens late, though it isn't easily accessible on foot. The owner was very pleasant. I like to exercise first thing and found that I could run as far as the main road safely but no further - it's a decent short incline run though and there's room around the grounds for bodyweight exercises.
The location is not easy to get to if travelling a certain direction via either car GPS or Google Maps and we lost about an hour taking the wrong route, though we were only 3/4 miles away from the cottage we had been sent down a farm track by the car's satnav (Google Maps gave the same route, and several times tried to send us back that way when travelling from Sanquhar so I guess it's technically the shortest way). The What Three Words correct location for the road is ///envy.parading.slumped and the Google coordinates 55°21'28.1"N 3°51'48.8"W. Contrary to some reviews, which I think lost something in translation, there is no dishwasher onsite and no clothes dryer (there is a very small rack) so though washing is possible, drying isn't during cold weather: be prepared for that if you plan to go hiking. Though toiletries were advertised in the listing, there was no shower gel/shampoo so we had to make a dash down to Tesco (circa 20 miles away) to pick up extra shopping after we arrived. Hand soap, washing up liquid and toilet rolls were provided. As always with home lets, there were some basic cooking items (oil, salt, pepper etc) left behind by previous occupants but you should expect to be doing a full shop en route unless you plant to eat out at every meal.

Lovely Galloway minibreak for three adults
Excellent communication from hosts Ben & Tim, replies to messages were very quick & informative. They were also very considerate & thoughtful during our stay - you honestly couldn’t wish for better hosts. The cottage has gorgeous views outside & like staying in your our private National Trust house inside, plus it’s wonderfully comfortable & warm! We stayed during storm Amy & were cosy at all times despite the strong winds & heavy rain.
Nothing - we were very happy with the property
