    Wonderful stay in a comfortable log cabin.

    Great accommodation in a very nice setting to relax and go hiking. Our "Blockhaus" was very well equipped. A nice wooden stove and infrared heaters with thermostat in all rooms kept us warm. Nicely located outside of town with beautiful views, hiking trails etc.. The owners were very friendly and helpful - excellent communication via German and English. We will be happy to come back.

    Sadly, the forests in the Harz mountains have suffered considerably in recent months from droughts, fires, bark beetle and, it seems, way too much logging. (Though there are still lots of unaffected areas.) Hopefully, reforestation campaigns will be successful over the years.
