It is situated in a wonderful setting. The breakfast was truly amazing—beyond anything we could have imagined. It is located in a beautiful spot with a view of the sea.

I can confidently say that Blue Ocean Tree House is the best accommodation I found in the Hiriketiya area. Staying there feels like living inside a cozy little cabin; the atmosphere is incredibly peaceful. You can enjoy breakfast while gazing at the ocean view—it is a truly delightful experience. There are a couple of negative reviews, but don't let them mislead you into missing out on this wonderful place. As for the complimentary breakfast, it is excellent, offering a wide variety of delicious dishes. You can also easily arrange to rent a bike or hire a tuk-tuk or car right there. There is an in-house menu available if you wish to order meals from their restaurant, and the food offers authentic Sri Lankan flavors. The host family is incredibly warm and friendly; their hospitality makes you feel like you are among family. I wholeheartedly recommend this villa to you.

Reconsider especially if solo traveller
It is a quiet, secluded spot that might suit couples. It is near to Blue Beach. The hosts were friendly.
I don't normally leave reviews but felt I should provide a balance of opinion given the large number of positive reviews. The room was not ready on arrival after 3pm, that said I did book day of arrival. Although clean, there were ants all through the bed by the evening, which made sleeping difficult. It is a long way from restaurants and the main towns, which although could be quaint for a couple wanting a secluded spot, was frustrating as a solo traveller particularly because the availablity of tuk tuks in the area is zero, and you must rely on the hosts to arrange. The language barrier was substantial, and it made organising this (or any logistics/requests in general) difficult. I gave up and walked to town a couple of times, which was fine during the day, but at night it is very dark and not well marked. It was also oddly difficult to get into the property on arrival because of their huge gates, which when locked from the inside cannot be opened unless you yell out to them. The food was fine, but I would recommend eating at local restaurants nearer to town which are much better. I ended up moving to another guesthouse the following day which made my stay in Hiriketiya drastically better. It was significantly nicer and half the price. It genuinely could be good if you wanted this seclusion, and the hosts I feel did try to make the stay enjoyable. TLDR: Overpriced compared to other places for what it is; isolating not in a good way if you are a solo traveller or want proximity to literally anything.

Cosy and well equipped cabin with a view in a quiet and idyllic location near Hiriketiya
Location was great and the area felt quiet and safe, great access to beaches and short Tuk Tuk from Hiriketiya. The hosts were friendly and quick to respond to any questions. The cabin is equipped with kitchenware which we found rare in our trip so this was a nice addition. The breakfasts were decent standard, not the best we had in our trip but not the worst.
