SAFETY ISSUES
The apartment itself is excellent — comfortable, well located and a really nice space. The beds, pillows and linen are genuinely top quality, and the towels are great too. On the accommodation alone, it's a lovely place to stay.
DISLIKED: The most serious issue is personal safety, and I raised it directly with the host by email, this was what I was told to do with the complaint via the messaging service — with no response at all within 24 hours. The escape route via the stairs requires a key to get out, and there is a locked gate on the way. Combined with a bunch of completely unlabelled keys, that means in a fire or emergency you would be fumbling through unmarked keys to unlock your own way out. That is a serious safety risk, not a minor gripe. On top of that, I couldn't find any emergency evacuation information or a fire extinguisher in the apartment (one was provided on the second day) and the host has not confirmed whether there are working smoke or carbon monoxide detectors in the unit — which short-term rentals in Italy are legally required to have. Future guests should check their exit route and detectors the moment they arrive. The hosting also lacked attention to detail more generally. Check-in is more complicated than it needs to be: the self check-in details weren't available until the day of arrival despite an email saying otherwise, and the first contact number given wasn't on WhatsApp, so we paid roaming charges before being given a WhatsApp number on request. The door wasn't labelled with the apartment name as promised, and the wifi had to be copied off the back of the modem. Automated emails are annoying, especially when you've taken time to give feedback and they still keep coming. The apartment was under-provisioned — one dishwasher tablet, nothing for the washing machine, no coffee pods and no cloth for the kitchen bench — and there was no guest information at all. The sofa had been made up as a bed we didn't need for a two-person booking in a 2 bed apartment .
