Sadly poor mantainance/communication, impacted our enjoying a excellent restored character property
Excellent restored character premises, but had disabled smoke detectors and poor communication.
Very poor communication and unacceptable that smoke detector in the bedroom had been left disabled, i.e the cover had been left open. A legal requirement that they are working. This could not have been done by a guest as high ceilings, and a ladder required, so maintenance staff did this. We were advised to unlock an adjacent bedroom with a working detector, and then found another room, which we were not using, also with a disabled detector. Supposedly this had been left disabled by maintenance staff. We were advised that this would be attended on the next day, but no communication received, confirming this. On return we found that still it was still disabled, and when checking we were advised that staff had attended. A potential privacy issue, as my wife has mobility issues and if she had been in the shower she would not have been able to respond promptly. We were then advised that issue could not be fixed until an electrician attends, the next day. We were already checking out that day.

Drive slow so you don’t run over the penguins!!!
Amazing property so nice to be out with the cows. So neat and tidy. Was amazing having to stop on the road for the fairy penguins to bustle about on the road.

The Postmaster General Suite was very comfortable & spacious. Communication was very good.
Some wildlife noises on the cottage roof a couple of nights, possibly Tassie Devils or possums.

An interesting and comfortable place to stay.
Out of town so you get peace and quiet. Close to Stanley for food or supplies. Lovely dark sky. Close to Highfields Estate which is nice to visit. And got to see Little Blue Penguins just down the road from us. Be careful driving at night.
WIFI was on and off. I didn’t have phone signal but my husband did with Telstra.

Modern, comfortable, and quiet accomodation.
Some concerns about drinking water. Tap water has strong after-taste. Probably good idea to test for bacterial contamination.
