We were very disappointed.
Breakfast was possibly good for local cuisine but for western food the quality was poor. There was choice but it wasn't good at all. The restaurant by the beach was actually very good in terms of choice and variety but it was closed until 5:30 and then busy when it did open, making it tough to get a seat. The main restaurant buffet for dinner was something we considered our first evening, but we decided against it as the quality wasn't great. The other restaurant in the main part of the hotel that was a la carte and offered good options for Asian food but the restaurant itself was very stuffy and old. My 5 year old immediately said I am not eating here, it smells too bad. The poolside restaurant had good pizza, but the other items we ordered we did not eat as they just were not good. The poolside barman was excellent. Very personable and intuitive. It is a busy place and obviously many people enjoy it but for us, it was not anything like what we expected based on the photos.
Overall, the hotel is very old and run-down. The gym has good equipment but the space is small and there is no natural light. The spa is very old and while my intention was to have some treatments while there, once I saw it I knew I didn't want to visit it. The staff was lovely but the space was not what I would associate with a 5 star resort. The photos online are not what the place looks like. It is not well-maintained. While I can see they are bit by bit renovating, we feel we were deceived. We checked out after 2 days, even though we had booked for a week.
