Visiting Matera is a must — and staying at Casa MATERiA makes it truly unforgettable.
Our stay at Casa MATERiA was an experience for all the senses. Thanks to our hosts, Michele and Simone, we felt instantly at ease. It was like stopping over at friends who open their home and welcome you with open arms. We were truly impressed by the passion and dedication they poured into creating this lovely place and thankful for all the recommendations. Our five-year-old son, for instance, was torn between wanting to explore the streets and hills of Matera—after hearing some of the stories our hosts shared—and returning to “his room,” as he called it, to discover all its fascinating details. And our two-year-old daughter still, to this day, talks about wanting to go (back) to Matera. One thing we definitely missed after our stay was Simone’s breakfast, which featured homemade savories and local produce.
My timing. Next time we have to plan more than two nights for our stay.

Simone e Michele sono due proprietari di casa dediti all accoglienza e sanno come farla! Ci hanno offerto ottime colazioni a km zero. Sono stati gentilissimi nel suggerirci itinerari per visitare Matera. La loro struttura è elegante e collocata in strategica posizione centrale.

Like stepping into another world
Casa Materia is not just a place to stay—it’s a world of its own. Thoughtfully designed and deeply calming, it invites you to slow down and feel truly grounded. Simone and Michele care for every detail with such warmth and presence that we felt completely at home and cared for. Breakfast was a quiet joy—homemade brioches, jams and honey from their own production, and an exceptional selection of teas and infusions. Staying here was really a special experience.
