A converted shop turned into a flat with a lot of noise from the public footpath
The host kept trying to communicate using Google Translator which made things little difficult to communicate. We spent 30 mins trying to open the door as the key was little jammed initially; We found a kind-stranger to follow the Spanish instruction over the phone by the host on how to open the door; when that was also failed, the host came with an interpreter and she opened the door to let us in. On entering the flat we realised that it was a converted shop/ Garage into some sort of a living space on the ground floor accessed directly from the public footpath. The entrance door is right on the public footpath on a busy road as you open the door of the living room; so the people from the footpath can literally directly look/peep into the living room and to the small bed room from the footpath as you open the living room door to go out which was a shock when we realised that we were going to stay in a shop/garage for 3 nights with a family. There is no window in the living room or in the master bedroom that you can open because it would otherwise open right on the footpath where people are continuously walking all day long. The small bed room to the rear and the toilet have a little shutter/vent window at the ceiling height (like living in a basement) to get some day light in, which does not allow cross ventilation inside the flat. There is only one very small air conditioner fitted in the living room which seems too small for the whole place to cool down as the inside temperature doesn't come below 28C. Neither bedrooms has any air conditioning nor any fans in there. If the bedroom doors are locked for privacy then the bedrooms get too hot as the air conditioning from the living room would not reach. The outside temperature in Valencia was 28C during our stay and after running the AC for 5-6 hours the inside temperature was still at 28C. So the flat is NOT air conditioned at all what is says when marketing it on Bookings.com.
Thanks to the host who then brought a table fan for the master bedroom and letting the other small bedroom to sweat. The smaller bed room light was not working (it would be completely dark when the door was closed). I reported it to the host again; she told it became faulty recently and she would bring a new table lamp later in the evening on the first day of arrival. She came back with two electricians to fix it accompanied by two young children (which we understand the reality) but the little children thought it was their flat and we were just standing their being shocked. After changing the light the electrician realised there was a different main-switch that must be switched on first get a bedside switch to function. This episode took nearly one hour of chaos. Later in that first evening we noticed the induction hot plate in the kitchen was very temperamental and we couldn't figure it out after trying for sometime; We reported to the host who came again to show us on how to switch it on but she could not make it work either and she left by saying sorry, but she did not provide any alternative solution. We ended up going out for food later that evening. The host should change the faulty induction hob before letting it to others. The communication was extremely difficult as the host doesn't speak English at all. We were using Google Translation. The host could get some instruction printed in English to paste on the wall to overcome some of this barriers. The bigger question is that shop/garage has been converted into a flat with a lot of noise from the public footpath feet away from the living room and the master bedroom.
