  Rats in the outdoor area. Avoid.

  The house interior was nice and comfortable,.but as per the below we could not use the outside of the house due to the ongoing presence of rats.

  Rats in the outdoor area. Avoid. We stayed here for four nights. On arrival, there were a few minor issues—cigarette smoke lingering in one upstairs bedroom, ants in the kitchen, a fridge that hadn't been properly cleaned, and a pool surround that was looking quite worn. None of these alone would have ruined our stay. The real problem became apparent the following morning. At around 8:30am, I looked out through the patio doors and saw two large rats running around the decking outside. They were even climbing the bushes directly beside the window of the main bedroom where we were sleeping. I have video evidence of this, which I shared with the host, Alexandre. To his credit, Alexandre responded quickly and arranged for someone to place four rat traps outside that day. However, that did not solve the problem—I saw another rat on the decking the following day and reported it again. We were no longer comfortable using the garden or pool area, which was the main reason we had paid a premium for this property. Rather than acknowledging that the outdoor space was effectively unusable for us, the host repeatedly downplayed the issue, describing it as normal for a rural location. He refused to offer either alternative accommodation or any refund for the remaining nights, despite the fact that we could not enjoy a key feature of the property we had specifically paid for. Booking.com was equally disappointing. Despite providing video evidence and explaining that we were unable to use the outdoor facilities because of an ongoing rat problem, they offered no meaningful assistance or resolution. We paid €1,666 for four nights and left feeling that we had received nowhere near the experience we had paid for. It wasn't just the presence of rats that disappointed us—it was the complete lack of accountability and customer service from both the host and Booking.com.
