  Pristine beauty that turned into a nightmare two nights, with lack of sleep

  The location of Maraika is exquisite. I've always hiked past there and the pristine beauty of the beach and access to it, was what interested me in staying here. And on that note, we could not fault the facilities. The restaurant is well laid out, the food was tasty, and the service was very attentive. It seemed we were one of only two couples staying there, since we didn't see any other guests. This was to be expected because it's low season.

  Our room was beautiful and very open to nature, and I knew that before. However, in the communication leading up to our stay, management didn't make us aware of the large amount of land crabs that are on the property. At night they came out in droves. We had to zip up our luggage and there was very little space and/or luggage racks to place it off the ground. These crabs were climbing up onto the bathroom vanity, the mini fridge, they were in the shower, etc. Getting up at night to pee, was a scary process. We knew a visit in low season would be humid, and they did provide us with two fans. But we needed to close the mosquito net to protect us from bugs/crabs. And inside the mosquito net it was stifling. The only mosquito protection they provided, was a small bottle of bug spray in the mini fridge that they charged an exorbitant price. No mosquito light, no citronella incense... in a dengue region! On day two of our stay, when we came back from the beach, there was a really stinky smell lingering around our cabana, smelling like a dump site. We pointed it out to staff at dinner, they said someone would look at it. After dinner, a staff member followed us back to our room to inspect, complained that our room was 'muy lejos' (very far) and then insisted on us paying them a tip for having to walk over and inspect the stinky smell. The next morning the smell was back with a vengeance. So it was definitely a change in the wind direction, which means our room was near a trash site, that they clearly knew about. Although the food and service was good, there were major issues with billing. Being charged for drinks we did not have. Luckily we closely inspected the bill. When my partner wanted to tip 15%. Which was generous considering the drama, the hostess handling the transaction insisted on 20%. Definitely do not stay here. Come for the day, enjoy the food, leave after sunset. But be sure to check your bill twice!

  Secluded luxury beachfront getaway with gorgeous treehouse boho chic jungle decor & incredible food

  Absolutely stunning treehouse style, boho chic private beachfront getaway. The two chefs from Uruguay are AMAZING. Easily the best food we had in two weeks around Colima/Jalisco. Highly recommend this for a romantic relaxing getaway. We stayed in the family villa and surprisingly didn't have any issues with mosquitos or insects (no repellent used). The water is clear and the marine life is absolutely thriving. We watched whales, rays and fish from the sunset deck and the beach.

  Everything was great! The staff were super lovely and helpful.

  Excelente lugar para relajarse entre semana. La mejor comida.

  Me encantó estar en un lugar mas privado. Me encantaron las casitas. La comida esta muy buena!!!

  Todo excelente! Solo al final los lancheros trataron de cobrarnos y el transporte ya está incluido para entrada y salida. Fue un poco incómodo.
