Very Nice Apartment, but One of the Worst Management Experiences I Have Had

I booked this apartment from July 27 to August 20. I want to be clear that the apartment itself was very nice, and we genuinely wanted to stay for the entire booking. Unfortunately, the management experience completely ruined what otherwise could have been a great stay. I am from the United States and have stayed in hundreds of hotels, serviced apartments, and luxury properties around the world, including many five-star properties. I have never experienced management handling a stay in this manner. The biggest issue was an extremely restrictive visitor policy that was never clearly disclosed to me before I booked, paid, signed, or checked in. During the stay, management suddenly informed us that we were not permitted to have visitors at the apartment after 9 PM. This was a two-bedroom apartment occupied by only me and my girlfriend. We were in Sri Lanka specifically to spend time with friends and family, so naturally her sister, brother, and other family members would occasionally visit us. We were not hosting parties every night or operating the apartment irresponsibly. Once management raised concerns, we cooperated. We provided visitor names and even ID numbers when requested. Despite that, this visitor issue eventually became a major reason management tried to terminate our booking early and instructed us to leave on August 13, even though our reservation was through August 20. I had to negotiate two additional days simply to give us enough time to find alternative accommodation. If this visitor restriction had been clearly disclosed before I booked, I would never have booked the apartment. A rule this significant should not be introduced
