Besides the location, it was very disappointing
The location, the free wine
Gosh where to start. The apartment was freezing with no indication of how to warm it up. I finally found the baseboards and turned it on, but I didn’t know if I was supposed to and the heat never reached the bedroom. In the checkout instructions it said to leave the baseboard heater set to a certain level but they were turned all the way off for who knows how long, and not checked when the apartment was turned over. It was like an icebox. The ladder up to the sleeping area was incredibly dangerous and I nearly slipped several times. Someone left a vacuum in the bedroom area which felt unprofessional and odd. There was no shampoo, lotion, conditioner or anything that every other hotel or short term rental offers: just hand soap both at the sink and in the shower. I couldn’t wash my hair with that. There were no mirrors at all in the entire place except for one very very small round mirror in the bathroom. I had to get ready for a wedding there and could not due to the lack of shampoo and amenities like that and the lack of mirrors. In the sleeping area, one of the blinds pulled down but there were no blinds or curtains on the window near the bed. There was something in some packaging that I didn’t feel like I should really be installing. The hosts were not responsive in a timely manner (it took hours and a follow up message to my original message to get them to respond), and when they did finally respond, it was not an answer to my question. The biggest issue was the wiring. It’s a very old building and the wiring was just incredibly unsafe. And I’ve stayed in 11th century castles in the middle of Tuscany and everything in between. I’ve seen the proper way to wire and ancient building and this was not it. There were massive multi-plugs everywhere that sparked dangerously when you plugged or unplugged anything into them, side table lamps plugged into devices that you have to turn on and off by the plug itself… it just felt very unsafe.
