    Comfortable.

    The rooms were very spacious.

    Nothing really worth mentioning.

    Authentic Portuguese experience

Our first impression was surprisingly positive, mainly because of how spacious the apartment was. However, once we took a closer look around, something started to smell… both literally and figuratively. We discovered that each of us had our own bedroom, with a mysterious room in between that we quickly nicknamed either the “Casting Room” or the “Dead Prostitute Room.” Without a doubt, it was the most fascinating room in the entire apartment. It’s basically a cube-shaped room with a tiny window looking directly into one of the bedrooms, plus a table and a couch. The room practically begs to be used either for filming porn or committing a murder. To be fair, the entire apartment gives off that vibe. The curtains, wallpaper, kitchenware, bright red kitchen, and overall atmosphere all scream questionable life choices. Getting into this room was a challenge in itself because you have to rotate the door handle almost 90 degrees just to open it. Every evening we wished each other good night and sincerely hoped we’d all meet again in the morning in exactly the same numbers—no more, no less. We did appreciate that each bedroom had its own air conditioning unit, which came with the bonus feature of producing ambient rain sounds. Honestly, that was probably the biggest highlight of the entire stay. One of the bedrooms even has what could technically be called a balcony. It’s roughly 25 cm wide and about one square meter in total, and you also have to share it with the air conditioning unit. The bathroom deserves its own paragraph. The shower drain is covered by what looks suspiciously like a manhole cover. The sink is essentially a salad bowl full of limescale, surrounded by metal bars that make you feel like you’re standing on public transport. The bathroom door provides approximately 2% privacy. Thanks to the frosted glass and the fact that it never fully closes, you can comfortably have a conversation with someone cooking dinner while you’re using the toilet.
