  Marvelous dinners

  We booked Chez Ronald for four nights because of the good reviews regarding Arlette's cooking abilities. Thus, we came with high expectations. She actually exceeded our expectations, offering us the best meals we've had during our stay in Mauritius and Rodrigues. She (and her son, Bruno) cooks a wonderful array of Creole dishes that all taste perfect. Arlette joins her guests for dinner, which is extremely nice: she has so many things to tell about her island (you have to ask the questions, though), and she somehow exhales goodness. For those who value privacy and who might hesitate to book because of the "common table" dinners, you should rest assured that Arlette is respectful and not intrusive, and she will help you get a glimpse of what the Rodrigues population has to offer. Moreover, the location is fantastic, 2 minutes walking distance from the Saint Pierre beach, in the middle of the not-to-be-missed trail between Pointe Coton and Graviers. For expeditions further west, as well as to reach the airport, it is more convenient to have your own wheels. If you stay there for less than a week, and if you expect to move around, it really is better to rent a car or a scooter (buses are cheap but not always practical, taxis are just eye-wateringly expensive).

  There are two drawbacks only. First, there is the shower, which runs hot in the evening and lukewarm in the morning, but which fails at delivering enough water pressure to the extent that washing long hairs turns into a painful experience. Second, we felt the breakfasts do not meet 1/10 of the high dinner standard. Some people will be ok with what is on offer (one egg per person, served cold, some toasts with peanut butter, Nutella, and jam, one sweet that changes daily, such as pancakes, dry cakes, or the like), but we just felt Arlette is probably not so much of a breakfast person...

  Emplacement exceptionnel Sur la baie Saint François Accueil Chaleureux d'Arlette et son fils A proximite du sentier du littoral Super balade à pied jusqu'à pointe gravier et Anse Mourouk et de l'autre côté à baie coton Repas Super bon cuisine locale Arrêt de Bus devant la maison vous pouvez tou faire en Bus ou à pied

  Rodrigues est une île pour qui aime la nature et la déconnection. Etablissement vivement conseillé

  Accueil et qualité des échanges avec Arlette, qui est également une excellente cuisinière.

  La cuisine d'Arlette est exceptionnelle ! Et chaque jour différente ! Et puis l'accueil, la simplicité des lieux, le calme, parfait pour des vacances reposantes. Arlette prend le temps d'expliquer ce qu'il y a à faire sur l'île, prend contact avec les chauffeurs / guides pour nous, nous donne les itinéraires et horaires pour les bus. Un véritable accueil ! Et le logement est situé très proche de la plage (très peu fréquentée) et d'un sentier de randonnée menant à de magnifiques points de vue.
