    A barely adequate motel.

    Good location considering the remote rural Iowa location of Vinton, Iowa.

    The mattress in our room was thoroughly destroyed by hundrd, perhaps thousands, of previous guests. Huge indentations where others had slept or sat on the matress. it badly needed replacement. Moreover, the plumbing in the bathroom leaked, especially around the toilet. Every time you flushed the toilet, water appeared on the floor. The breakfast was appalling--powered, cold scrambled eggs, fatty sausages, and English muffins that were mostly stale. The Seattle Best-brand paper coffee cups also leaked. We tried three or four cups every morning until we found one that didn't leak. After two of these shockingly disappointing breakfasts, we opted for McDonalds don the street for breakfast on our third morning. Night and day difference!
