Hardware is good but room to improve on software
The location is very good if you land at Hongqiao airport and may need to travel via high speed train as the hotel is connected with the high speed train station. A big shopping mall is connected with the hotel where you can find a lot of restaurants. The room is big and clean, the varieties for breakfast are good but the quality for Chinese foods are better than western foods.
The staff is not helpful especially when there are something other than normal check in check out process. I had sent messages to the hotel inquiring about a birthday arrangement for our friend. Hotel replied saying that they can arrange a small cake to be delivered at midnight on the birthday. I have reconfirmed this arrangement during checked in and the staff in the reception confirmed this. But unfortunately nothing had happened after everyone gathered in room waiting for the cake for 20mins, we called to the reception but they claimed no such arrangement shown in the system. After several calls back and forth, the staff was not good and shown impatience not sure if it was because she just not understood well on our questions. We went to the reception and explained everything again and then they sent us a few pieces of cakes after another 20mins and obviously the cake was not the pre-arranged one. We were all very disappointed with the miss of the arrangement and the way they handled especially we did have some expectation for a hotel under Langham group. We had requested this kind of birthday arrangement in the previous trips and had never experienced such kind of miss especially I had already reminded the staff during check in. Just want to highlight to people to take note if you want to have special arrangements in this hotel.
