Each floor had framed prints of a French artist including Chagall, Toulouse Loutrec, Gauguin, Modigliani, and Matisse. I enjoyed touring each floor, like a museum. Also, I enjoyed the Jeanne d'Arc statue, paintings, etc. Therre were little paintings of flowers and other things throughout the hotel and rooms. It was all so interesting and not the impersonal, sterile rooms often found in hotels. The location was excellent, close to Union Square and one night we got a cable car from near Fisherman's Wharf to half a block from our hotel. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Since the room I requested with two queen beds was not available, they provided two rooms on the same floor, each with a king bed and one had a sitting room!

Before coming it was a little challenging tr reach the hotel by phone. BUT they did answer my written message promptly.

The Nob Hill location was great, with Beanstalk coffee shop across the street, Roxanne's for breakfast/lunch, and the Last Drop Tavern nearby. The cable car was handy and stopped at the corner. Also, a National Catholic Church was just 200 ft. from hotel. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean with a nice hot shower with good water pressure. The products were lovely. The breakfast was good with a variety of fruit offered. We had a six night reservation, gave a 48-hour notice asking to check out early, and they agreed to refund us 2 nights. The staff were so friendly, especially Grace. She brightened up the place.

Fair warning: It's not a place for seniors with the slightest impairments. You will have to climb stairs if you don't stay on the first floor. Also, there are a few stairs to get into the hotel. Now for value: The price was a bit steep for the following reasons. The pictures did not match reality. Do not expect a bright lit place. It was rather dark. Our room had a weird odor, but we opened the windows, which helped a little, and/or we got used to it. There was no room for our luggage, so we used the only two comfortable chairs in the suite. We asked to leave the day after we checked in for the above-mentioned reasons, but they said we would incur a cancelation fee, so we decided to give the place a chance. The ancient elevator, with cables and a wooden door to open and close ourselves, would stop working intermittently, and we would have to climb 6 flights of stairs. The only guest refrigerator was in the lobby sized for a small apartment, so it was full most of the time. The ice machine in the basement did not work, so no ice the entire stay. TV had only analog, so we watched a fuzzy football game. There was no option for Netflix, etc.. We checked out and stayed down the hill towards Union Square at the Marriott for our last two nights. It was worth a little extra money.

    Nota 7.

Localização muito boa, cama excelente e quarto silencioso mesmo sendo de frente para rua. As atendentes foram muito simpáticas. Café da manhã ok.

    Chuveiro ruim e elevador precário.
