    I highly recommend the Exarchia neighborhood, although I know it may not be to everyone's taste because of the graffiti everywhere. However, if you have a bit of a hippie spirit and prefer to avoid crowds of tourists, you'll feel right at home. The check-in instructions were clear, and the apartment had everything we needed. In fact, it almost felt as though someone had simply gone away for a while and entrusted us with looking after their home.

    The address listed on Booking.com — Emmanouil Mpenaki 136 — leads to a completely different location in Athens. The correct street name is Emmanouil Benaki. The host sent the check-in instructions through the Booking.com chat, but I received no notification. I had to contact the host via WhatsApp, translating messages written in Greek (!) and dealing with inconsistent response times. If you see airport transfer advertised as part of the booking, forget about it — I ended up paying €55 myself. And if you need an invoice for your stay, forget about that too. As soon as I asked for one, the communication simply stopped.

    Cool area

    Loved the area and the locals. Plenty of places to eat and drink with reasonable prices, without walking far. Main metro and taxi stand about 15 minutes walk.
