    The owner was responsive and friendly. The house is located inside a complex and is located at the city centre, a safe place with lot of food/market options around.

    Feeling Scammed

    Never Got to Stay in the Unit We Booked We were looking forward to a lovely stay in central Stellenbosch, only to be informed telephonically that we could not stay in the unit we had booked. Apparently, the guests who stayed there on Friday night believed they had booked the unit for the entire weekend. We were told that an alternative unit was available. Imagine our surprise when we discovered that it was nowhere near the standard of the accommodation we had paid for. The replacement unit was located about half a kilometre away from our original booking and had several issues, including a mouldy bathroom, broken cupboard doors, and light fittings covered with aluminium foil trays where glass lampshades should have been. After enjoying a lovely dinner in town, we returned to the unit and decided to have a shower before bed. Big mistake. The geyser pressure valve, located in the cupboard next to the bed, started dripping into a drip tray inside the bedroom cupboard. We then spent the night listening to a constant drip, drip, drip, making it nearly impossible to get any sleep. At that stage, a cup of tea would have been greatly appreciated while waiting for the dripping to stop. But guess what? There was no coffee, tea, sugar, milk, or even a bottle of water in sight. Nothing. I'm not sure whether this is part of their normal way of doing business, but personally, I feel scammed and robbed of the Stellenbosch experience we had anticipated and paid for. Overall, we paid for one accommodation experience and were given something entirely different, which significantly affected what should have been an enjoyable weekend away. To add insult to injury, the only view we had of the accommodation we had originally booked was from the street below, while visiting the many restaurants and shops in the area. We never once set foot in, let alone stayed in, the unit we had specifically booked and paid for.
