It was an interesting experience of a differet Beijing stay

The guesthouse is beautifully furnished with antiques and have a lovely Chinese ambience. You really get a feeling for living in a Hutong here, especially wandering through the narrow streets surrounding the house. The area is full of authentic Chinese eateries. Lastly, the staff is extremely friendly and chatty and helpful with ordering taxis. They also very kindly helped to retrieve a lost item in a taxi. I actually gave the property a higher rating because of the staff.

This property should not be advertised as a 4-5 star hotel- it doesn't have the expected level comfort and service. The staff is very friendly and helpful - but we were asked to come back 30mins later for breakfast even though they confirmed the time the night before. There were boxes lying everywhere and the advertised restaurant doesn't operate every evening and cannot accommodate vegetarians. It is difficult to get a taxi here, they cancel sometimes if they see the Hutong location. We got dropped off far from the hotel when the taxi refused to continue further - this was at night and not pleasant. Last but not least, we found the property expensive compared to proper 5 star hotels, which we had been staying at prior to this stay.
