Disappointing experience — not worth the price

I was very disappointed with my three-night stay at Courtyard by Marriott. I paid approximately $1,000 for the stay, so I expected a much higher standard of cleanliness, service and overall experience. Unfortunately, the room did not feel properly cleaned. The carpet was visibly dusty, and the glasses, plates, cutlery and coffee machine also appeared dusty. These are basic things that should be checked and cleaned properly between guests, and it significantly affected my confidence in the overall cleanliness of the hotel. The room also had a very small refrigerator and did not even have a basic corkscrew or bottle opener. I called reception to request a bottle opener, but it took more than two hours to arrive, despite me following up once. That level of service is disappointing, particularly for a Marriott property. I also decided not to try the food or coffee downstairs. The overall environment did not feel clean or welcoming, and unfortunately, the presentation of the hotel did not give me confidence that the food and coffee would meet the standard I would expect. For around $1,000 for three nights, I simply don’t believe the experience represented good value for money. Cleanliness and basic service should be fundamental, and in my experience, both fell short. I would not stay here again unless there were significant improvements in cleanliness, service and attention to detail.
