New Courtyard Hotel, but it doesn't get a 5 from me. Sorry.

We were on a weeklong trip to Virginia from Michigan to attend a family memorial service. Stayed here on our return trip. This is a fairly new and nicer Courtyard Hotel in Canfield, OH. It sits adjacent to a beautiful golf course. That being said, I was imaging when we booked this hotel that it would be an amazing experience. However, upon our arrival, in the pouring rain, we had to jockey for a space under the canopy with two parked golf carts with no one in them to unload our things. My husband went to check us in and bring out a luggage cart and I stayed with the car. 20 minutes later my husband comes back without a cart because they only have 3 and no one has returned theirs and they can't find them. Meanwhile, the golf carts are still sitting in the unloading area and we now have no luggage cart. This is a 5 story hotel and they only have three carts! We stayed at a much cheaper, less fancy place a few days earlier and they had 6 carts and made sure those who took them returned them pronto so others could use them. The desk attendant said someone was coming to help us. They never showed up. It had now been 30 minutes upon arrival so we hauled all our things up to the third floor, making two trips. While the golf carts still sat blocking the entrance. Not a very good first impression on someone who had driven 8 hours in the pouring rain. The room was fine. Clean and spacious. However I will just say the micro-fridge and mini coffee maker were a surprise, as we had a full size coffee maker and a dorm size fridge in the three less expensive hotels we stayed at. I have food allergies and I usually bring my own food when we travel. No big deal but the fridge and microwaves in the rooms really help me out. This fridge was ridiculously small. Bed was comfortable and AC quiet and worked well. The breakfast bar in the morning was typical, even though it is served in a more upscale way. Fruit, bakery items, milk, juice, sausage and eggs etc. The hotel did try to make up for the check in situation by giving us a bakery treat and a bottle of wine and a gift card to Panera. But upon checking out we had the same issue. No luggage carts to be had before breakfast or after breakfast. If you have just a single bag and love golf this place is for you. It is in a nice area, fancy atmosphere, good esthetics and clean rooms. The staff was friendly and I know the desk clerk felt bad about the glitch. But frankly for the price I would not stay here again.

Check Your Bill, This Hotel Triple-Charged Us for a One-Night Stay

Avoid at all costs. While trying to resolve a triple-charge to our credit card for a one-night stay, the assistant manager, Chelsea, decided she didn't like my tone so she hung up on me. Incredible hospitality training at this location. Meanwhile, we've been charged $654.90 for a stay that should have cost $218.30.

Charged Us for Two Nights, Only Stayed One Night

    Nothing.

Avoid this hotel at all costs. They charged us for a two night stay and we only stayed for one night.
