Perfect place for cosy and peaceful autumn in Lake District
A peaceful and comfortable stay at lake side. the lobby with a cozy, toasty fireplace and a library with lake views were a perfect setup for a relaxing time surrounded by nature! There are no grocery stores or local restaurants around, however I was able to order food at the hotel bar was very convenient.

Mixed experience. Lovely grounds and staff, but tired decor and service issues
The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and perfect for a peaceful walk. Our room was very spacious with a comfortable bed, and the back section of the hotel, especially around the fireplace has a nice, cosy atmosphere. The staff were consistently friendly and welcoming, and the evening meal itself tasted good.
The hotel feels like a solid 3-star property rather than a 4-star. The decor throughout is quite dated and in need of a refresh. We didn't opt for the fine dining option, which meant eating our evening meal in the bar area at low tables that weren't the right height for dining, making it quite awkward and uncomfortable. The hotel also seemed short-staffed, and the breakfast was disappointing. Most frustratingly, there was no hot water on the second morning
