    The hotel was convenient for the purpose of our visit. The road outside the hotel is exceptionally busy during morning and evening rush hour periods, so it is difficult to get out of the front or rear car parks at these times.

    In the bar/restaurant, the staff seemed to be struggling despite the place being quite empty-they mentioned the place had recently changed owners. We were encouraged to use the app to order food and drink. This wasn't working properly, so in the end we had to order at the bar anyway. Only 1 cask ale was on offer (the other 8 or 9 on the drinks menu were out of stock), and the staff were unsure which of the ales it actually was! We ordered food, which took a good while to come out, my meal was a bit overcooked, and the presentation was non-existent, just heaped on the plate. Prices of food and drink were not cheap. With regards to the hotel room, the double glazed window and door fronting the main road were both broken and difficult to close. Over the past 10 years, we have probably stayed at the Crown Inn around 11 or 12 times, and we have noticed the standards slipping, especially over the last 6 visits. As a result, we have decided that this would be our last stay. The Holiday Inn, just down the road, may be more expensive, but will now be our choice when staying in the area.
