    Perfect cottage for a short break

    A lovely small cottage, very comfortable, tucked away in a peaceful corner. Everything was immaculately clean and very comfortable. The shower was really good. The owners communicated well, and they made sure there was ground coffee and fresh milk in the house for our arrival, which was much appreciated. It was lovely to sit in the garden in the evening and watch the house martins flying about as the day faded.

    If you have a large vehicle, getting down the incredibly narrow lane might be a challenge, as would turning round to get back out. Not a problem for us, but a thing to be aware of.

    It felt as if the owners cared more about getting nice reviews than about having contented guests.

    Several things (such as lack of a decent frying pan and of waste bins in rooms) suggested that the owners were not actively engaged with meeting the wishes of their guests. The only direct message we had from them was a request for us not open the window of the bedroom because house martens were nesting overhead; this could have been better handled by a message before we arrived. Stone pillars along the entrance drive meant that it was an extremely tight fit for turning my car. The small outside space was disappointing, with branches and twigs dumped into the area over a small stream.
