Great potential, not fully delivered, a memorable setting that Deserves better attention to details
Without a doubt, the biggest strength of this property is its location. The setting itself, together with the building and its overall atmosphere, is worth the visit. The environment feels very welcoming and family-oriented, and the staff were exceptionally friendly, always attentive and willing to accommodate guests' requests. The rooms are charming and minimally furnished, perfectly in line with the surrounding environment. For anyone looking for peace, tranquility, and relaxation, this is certainly an ideal place to spend a few days. That said, there are several areas that, in my opinion, prevent this from being a perfect 10/10 experience. I do not mention these points below to unfairly criticize the property, but rather as constructive feedback for improvement.
First of all, there was an almost constant lack of hot water, with the water flow fluctuating significantly. It was practically impossible for several guests to take a proper shower at the same time. We had 3 rooms and naturally returned together in the evenings, which meant showering simultaneously. Unfortunately, the system could not cope with this basic demand. Another issue was the almost complete absence of reliable internet access. While disconnecting can certainly be part of the appeal, there should at least be one area of the property where guests can access a stable connection. Nowadays, even something as simple as making a restaurant reservation becomes impossible without internet access. In general, maintenance could be improved. Both the common areas and some aspects of the rooms felt somewhat neglected. I am not suggesting towels need to be changed daily, but receiving fresh ones every couple of days would have been appreciated. Breakfast was extremely basic, with very limited choice. Packaged snacks, processed cheese portions, and standard yogurts felt out of place given the property's boutique character. Charging extra for an espresso also felt unnecessarily cheap and not particularly hospitable.. Finally, and this is not something I blame on the staff, who remained empathetic and professional throughout our stay, the dinner pricing felt excessive. We were charged 70 dinars per person for two small bricks, salad, a grilled fish, and a bottle of wine. It turned out to be the most expensive meal we had in Djerba, more expensive than dining at El Fondouk in Houmt Souk, which is a well-established restaurant, or to lunch at Radisson Blu by the beach. I would like to stress that these comments are intended as suggestions for improvement. If the property wishes to position itself as a high-end boutique Maison, especially considering the rates charged, then both the service standards and the overall maintenance should consistently reflect that ambition.
