  My deposit was stolen and my messages ignored

  **Poor host communication — R2,000 deposit still outstanding** Our experience with the host, Maya, has been incredibly disappointing. We paid a R2,000 damage deposit, which she promised to refund within 72 working hours of checkout. We left the property in good condition, yet weeks later, I am still chasing my money. After repeated follow-ups, Maya said my banking details were missing. I supplied them, but the refund never came. My messages then went unanswered. When she eventually responded, she asked me to resend my banking details via WhatsApp, explaining that her phone had been cloned. I raised concerns about sharing my financial information through a potentially compromised channel and asked for a secure alternative, but received no further response. I have made every effort to resolve this directly with the host, yet my R2,000 remains outstanding. The lack of communication, accountability and follow-through has been extremely frustrating. A deposit is a guest's money, and returning it should not require weeks of chasing and repeated unanswered messages. I would urge future guests to think carefully about the host's handling of deposits before booking. As of this review, my R2,000 has still not been refunded.

  Location is excellent. Arriving before check in the reception hold my luggage which helped to move around without having to drag all the luggage with until check in time.

  There is a few things that are broken or need repairs. Door handle, toilet button, no hot water in the kitchen. For people flying there is no basics essentials which you can't travel with like salt and pepper.
