  So bad I bought another flight at my own expense and left early

  The apartment initially makes an attractive impression, particularly in photographs.

  The listing photographs present this as a luxury apartment. My experience was very different. The building’s common areas—entrance, stairwells, corridors and lift—are dark, run-down, smelly, and anything but luxurious. The apartment was extremely damp: bedding, pillows, mattress, my clothes, and even my body, felt damp overnight. Ventilation is very poor, no extractor fan in bathroom, and the carpet beneath the bed developed a strong stale, dirty smell. The mattress and pillows are uncomfortable and low-quality. There is only one window in the unit so cross-ventilation is impossible, and there are no insect screens. Opening the window brought in flies and mosquitoes. The refrigerator leaked onto the floor and was extraordinarily noisy. I asked for a solution to this. On day one, I was shown another fridge, which made the same noise. Management promised to find another, then later said replacement was “not possible,” suggested I wear earplugs and eventually advised unplugging the fridge overnight. No technician ever inspected it. Management was *appalling*: chaotic communication, problems left unresolved for days, and subsequent accounts of events containing what I consider *outright lies*. Management resolved none of the issues that I raised, while portraying me as refusing solutions. There was no reception and no one was physically present in the building with ability to resolve issues. The apartment is also directly above a loud bar in an intensely touristy part of Old Town. Damp bedding, foul-smelling carpet, poor ventilation, insects, an uncomfortable bed, excessive refrigerator noise and dismissive management made this an exceptionally unpleasant stay. I had paid for 2 weeks but eventually bought an additional airline ticket at my own expense and left early, just to get out of there. I asked for partial financial compensation - neither property, nor booking.com offered me anything or resolved anything. I would never return.

  To be close to everything, Stay HERE!

  Location... This is right outside the Riga Cathedral and close to everything. Room has everything you would need, extra towels and sheets. When I return to Riga, I will stay here every single time!
