We loved the quaintness of the house. It had more bedrooms than I expected a thatched roof cottage to have. I was grateful for the kitchen as I needed to prepare a couple of meals due to the lack of restaurants in the area.

The wifi was lacking in speed and capacity. We were not able to use the TV at all. The netflix connection needed a user email to log in, all of the other inputs were locked so we couldn't even stream our phones. The use of heat controlls were off putting, even though we didn't need to use it. I can understand protecting your investment, but to do so in spite of damaging what you're trying to protect is silly. The lack of heat is causing mold to grown in your bathroom. If you're so concerned about the cost of heat, build it into the cost to stay there and let your guests be comfortable.

    Lovely house, disappointing hosts

The house itself is beautiful, comfortable, and full of charm in a nice area. It's a big house with a cozy peat fire, and nice seating area upstairs. The beds were a lumpy, but laying on top of an unused duvet from another bed helped. The heating was complicated and the coin box for it was a little off-putting, but we made due with the fire and didn't need to pay extra for heating.

The hosts were nice... until they weren't. They were initially friendly and helpful with small things, such as bringing paper towels as there weren't any, and supplying peat for the fire. But that tone changed when we raised a couple of significant issues. The first being that despite the listing boasting outdoor patio furniture, there was not one piece of patio furniture available to us during our stay. When I messaged them they confirmed in the chat that they ordered new furniture that wouldn't arrive until after our stay. This was very disappointing as sitting/dining outside was the main driver of choosing this more expensive property vs a smaller apartment. When I brought it up again later they said I had an "attitude" and denied that there was no patio furniture and claimed that it was there, despite having already admitted there wasn't, the housekeeper confirming there wasn't, and my own two eyes seeing there wasn't. We also agreed to let them send someone to fix the downstairs toilet that didn't flush. We had told them it's ok we can just use the one upstairs, but they said they were concerned about their "next guests". Because we are nice, we agreed, but the repair person was over 2 hours late, and the hosts didn't respond when we asked for updates. This significantly impacted our dinner plans for our final night, and we were not comfortable leaving a stranger come to the house with all our belongings when we weren't there. After our stay when we requested a partial refund for the inconvenience, the hosts were rude and refused. We escalated to Booking.com, who reviewed the entire conversation history and told us they feel we deserved a full refund, but the hosts still refused. Instead of advocating for the customer, Booking.com offered me a 25 euro credit, which I declined. Booking.

    Lovely experience!

Easy check in and plenty of information given. They were kind enough to let me bring my dog, which made the experience great.

Its hard to get dinner in the restaurants nearby. Chippie last orders is 18:45, restaurants was 8pm. On saturdays need to book in advance and they are super packed! But thats Donegall, nothing to do with the house!

The hosts were very amenable and easy to deal with. The house itself was a real experience with the turf fire and original features. The beds were very comfortable.

    The heating was slightly convoluted
