Embach's a long way from Zell am See, set in beautiful scenery. Basic apartment with all amenities.
The apartment was a bit sterile (i.e. basic level of comfort, no interesting or quirky touches) and compared to other places we stayed in Austria the welcome was not very warm. The apartment was very warm and we were told that the owners' parents'kitchen was on the floor below, so nothing could be done. We were told we would have to open the window, but lots of midges/biting insects when we opened the windows (we were bitten).

Excellent stay for winter as well as summer vacations
A wonderful stay simply. Newly renovated apartments within a classical alpine house, modern and comfortable equipment. Floor heating which especially in winter is really great! Hostess very friendly, helpful, explained everything on arrival. Special seating area downstairs with offer of beer, wine, non-alcoholic beverages in case you forget to bring your own - you simply note on paper what you have taken, and pay at the end of the stay. Quiet area with very nice views on the surrounding mountains. Small ski lift within walking distance from the house, with a small bistro nearby. Ski deposit as well as a place for ski-boots in house. Rauris ski area 10min driving. Small grocery store in Embach in a walking distance, as well as local tourist information office. In summer plenty of walking trails in surroundings, specifically I noted a 6km round trail with minigolf playing and locations around Embach - sounds great and we will definitely be back in summer to explore further.
Nothing was wrong, great holidays! One note though to winter travellers - in case of heavy snowfall, as we have experienced, you NEED to have your winter car gear! Winter tyres a must, and for those not having a jeep/4x4 car, area was not reachable without snow tyre chains - at least from one side, arriving from Lend. A tip for host - the large plates did not fit properly into the dishwasher, they are too large - limits the usable space in case you have more dishes to wash. More tea cups would be great to add to the kitchen.
