    Dornoch Castle

    When I told staff how disappointed I was with Room 18 and I wanted to cancel the 2nd night's stay, they moved me to a much more comfortable room. Their response was excellent and following my phone call, staff were suddenly very anxious to please.

    The first room I was allocated smelled of mold, was dirty, cold and noisy. Definitely not worth the money outlaid. I had booked a stay in a castle, had paid extra believing the experience was going to be exceptional. So disappointed.

    A delightful location and town, but the facility and meal were good - not great.

    The pub/whiskey bar was delightful in decor, in clientele, and in choice of drinks.

    The facilities are nice, but the name encouraged an expectation of more grandness than given. Our room could not be locked/unlocked. After repeated failed attempts to unlock it, and having to find the concierge to unlock it, we had to leave the room unlocked for dinner (not very safe, even here). The dining room was extremely simple and more like a college dining room than a real restaurant.
