Seven hours of round-trip driving through heavy rain, gas and toll expenses, and a ruined ninth birthday celebration due
My daughter and I have visited this resort numerous times over the years and previously enjoyed our experiences. We especially loved the indoor swimming facilities and family-friendly atmosphere, which is why I chose to return to celebrate my daughter’s ninth birthday. Unfortunately, this visit was nothing like our previous stays. I did appreciate that the hotel manager, Kirsten, acknowledged our concerns, apologized for the employee’s behavior, and approved a full refund.

I drove 3½ hours through terrible rainy weather, spending money on gas and tolls and putting significant mileage on my vehicle, specifically to celebrate my daughter’s ninth birthday at a resort we had visited and enjoyed many times before. Unfortunately, what should have been a special mother-daughter getaway became our worst experience at this property. Our shower and bathroom sink were severely clogged, with water accumulating instead of draining. We were forced to change rooms, but the transfer was poorly coordinated, and obtaining functioning room keys took hours. There were also no clean towels available at the swimming pool. The most upsetting part was the treatment I received from front desk employee. She repeatedly interrupted me and insisted that room service was unavailable, despite Hilton’s website advertising it. She offered no meaningful dining alternatives, even after I explained that I was alone with my nine-year-old daughter and could not leave her unattended at the pool. The following morning, manager confirmed that Nancy had provided incorrect information and that the kitchen could actually deliver food to our room door. Because of these avoidable problems, my daughter left the pool crying, our dinner was delayed, and her food was cold by the time I retrieved it. She did not want to eat. I was also embarrassed when another guest recognized me from conversations he had reportedly overheard among front desk employees discussing my complaint. At checkout, my daughter was already dressed in her bathing suit and excited to swim one last time. Management declined our request for an additional hour after checkout, and she began crying again. Although management approved a full refund, that did not reimburse the gas, tolls, vehicle mileage, or considerable time spent traveling 3½ hours each way. Nor did it restore my daughter’s birthday experience.
