This Drury Hotel is showing some wear. Other hotels nearby and we'll be trying one of them next time
Check in is efficient, the staff are always friendly and helpful and the "Kickback Hour" is a welcome plus. This is our 4th time staying at this Drury Inn. The Drury Inn in Santa Fe, NM is much nicer and the Amarillo property is not to be compared to it.
With 6 floors you'd think upper management would put a higher priority on fixing the elevator. This is the 3rd time in 4 years that one of only two elevators was working. Guests will be sorry if the now squeaking, creaking last working elevator decides to quit while they're there! Not the hotel's fault but there was someone smoking marijuana on our floor and it stunk up the hallway. We observed a couple who slept in their car in back of the hotel walk in and eat at the breakfast buffet. If you're from Oregon you'll be at home here, lots of dogs, pot and freeloaders

Staff was wonderful
Elevator out both of the two different weeks we stayed there. The worst part of this and the two other Drury Inns we stayed at were the impact of crowds from bus tours. So many people at once made the one working elevator inaccessible to other guests. So the rest of us were using stairs and agreeing to never use Drury again. Cause crowds would make it impossible to use the dinner buffet too. Forget the so called free drinks...the tour bus crowds make a massive line for those. Breakfast is pretty much the same. We always paid a little more to stay at Drury rather than Hampton. Not anymore, despite the wonderful staff why pay more for things you can see but not use. We've stayed there when they had full occupancy but it's nothing like this was. Most likely due to the flood of so many people all at once who can't do anything else in town. Like some younger guests told us while trudging up 4 flights of stairs, the Drury is like being in the cafeteria at the old folks home.
