Mostly nice
We had two rooms for our group, a Royal Suite and a regular sea-view room, so I can comment on both. The rooms are a little dated, but honestly, that didn't bother me much. They're spacious, comfortable and perfectly fine overall. The Royal Suite was great, with an amazing view, plenty of space and two bathrooms, which was especially convenient for a larger group. For the price we paid, I thought it was excellent value for money. The regular sea-view rooms were absolutely fine, too, so I don't think you necessarily need to splurge on a suite to have a good stay. The location is another big plus. It's close to the Old Town, and the resort offers a shuttle bus that you can book for just €3 per person at the moment. Taxis are reasonably priced as well, especially if you're travelling as a larger group. Overall, getting around was easy, and the location worked really well for us. The beach was nice, with plenty of umbrellas available, and the sea was lovely for swimming. We didn't really use the pools ourselves, as I think the sea was warmer during our stay, but the children's pool looked great, and my daughter absolutely loved the slides. All the facilities were great, and there was plenty to keep everyone entertained. Speaking of entertainment, I honestly can't fault it. There was a great variety of activities and entertainment, and everything we experienced was well done. It was one of those aspects of the resort where I really don't have anything negative to say. The food was mostly great, too. The Peruvian restaurant was the absolute highlight for us and easily our favourite dining experience. The main buffet was generally good, with plenty of options for different tastes and preferences, and most of the food was well prepared. I can imagine it getting a little repetitive if you eat there three times a day throughout your stay, though, which is why having the à la carte restaurants for dinner was such a great addition.
I'm a little conflicted about this one because I really wanted it to be a 10/10 experience, and all the glowing reviews had me quite hyped. I'm not a particularly picky person, and overall, we had a lovely time, but there were a few things that bothered me and kept it from being perfect. The cleanliness was a bit hit or miss. Our suite was mostly clean, but there were cockroaches in the other room that hadn't been cleaned out. The cleanliness of the common areas was also so-so. The bathrooms, in particular, were in a pretty shocking state, although I suppose that partly comes down to the guests themselves. Still, for a resort of this standard, I would have expected the common areas to be maintained a little better throughout the day. Another disappointment was the coffee situation. There wasn't really anywhere you could reliably get a proper coffee. They did have a proper espresso machine at the main bar, but you had to specifically ask for it, there were occasionally communication issues, and the bar opened relatively late. If you're someone who really needs a good morning coffee, this can be a bit of a letdown. Thankfully, we had a Nespresso machine in our room, which was actually much better than the Nescafé they served elsewhere. I was also hoping for a little more choice when it came to wine. Most of the time, they served their standard selections, and while we did manage to get a bottle that suited our taste at the Peruvian restaurant once, we couldn't get the same wine anywhere else, even when we specifically asked for it. I believe there were more options at the wine bar, but I would have appreciated being able to enjoy something different with dinner, too. Perhaps offering a selection of premium wines for an additional charge would be a good compromise for guests who want something beyond the standard all-inclusive options. None of these things ruined our stay, and I realize that some of them might seem minor on their own.
