    A perfect beach getaway

Everything was perfect! The beach was absolutely beautiful, the staff were warm, attentive and always happy to help, and the beds were so comfortable we slept wonderfully every night.

Nothing really. My only suggestion would be to add a few vegetarian options to the menu. Otherwise the food was very good.

Enjoyable, had a good rest, nothing serious to complain about. We liked our stay.

Amazing location, but it's valid for all properties from Kongo River down to Msambweni! Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Beds are great. Love the beach bar atmosphere, anytime of the day! Gardens and beach access are very nice. Overall, Layout is great, except for the swimming pool (see below).

swimming pool is as far as it could be from the beach. This probably wasn't an issue in the past, but today, the Western border of the property is surrounded by heavy construction areas. The forest has disappeared and it makes the pool location kind of awkward, overlooked by future new buildings :-(. Generally, food is a bit underwhelming. Not bad at all, (taste ok, nice portions) but many other better options are available in Diani/Galu. "Reserved" beach beds are really annoying. This should not be allowed. If people want specific spots, they should have to wake up earlier or take what's left. Such bad habits! I know this is how it's done from North to South Cast, but check out at 10.00 is really WAY too early. Last but not least: being charged for Masala Chaai at breakfast IN KENYA is preposterous! Tea is included, tea with milk is included, spices are available (thus included) at the egg/pancake station... but when you ask to mix them up, the answer is "management says you have to pay extra for it". Please think about it

Very disappointing service for a beautiful hotel!!

Part 1/2 After checking in, we were accomodated not in the poolview room we booked, but in a room without a view, because of maintenance (noise). We addressed this issue directly but management didn’t come with a solution to us. We immediately addressed our complaint of the room via the reservation manager few minutes after checking in. And the only solution that was offered was an upgraded room for €200 extra-which we refused as we were not informed prior about the maintenance that was close to the hotel premises. The seaside area of the hotel is very beautiful with a stunning beach. We had a 3 night stay and enjoyed the first evening together in the restaurant after a quick dive in the sea and drinking a milkshake. In the evening my girlfriend got very sick with vomitting and diarrhea at the same time. During the night problems for me started to develop and i had very bad diarrhea for around 30 times. Around 6 am we asked the hotel for ors and bottled water as they only offered refill bottles, but didn’t dare to take any risk anymore to drink this. The hotel didn’t offer this and there was no follow up. A couple hours later we called Diani Beach Hospital as dehydration was there and the hospital picked us up from the hotel. Also in this period we ordered sealed bottled water online via Pharmaplus. Both of us were diagnosed with bacterial infection and I was admitted as I couldnt hold any food or drink and everything came out and got very sick. We stayed since the morning, the night and the full day afterwards in the hospital and the hotel didn’t check anytime on us. The evening we arrived back there was no question asked how we were doing.

Part 2/2 Scared to eat again we tried to eat a bit at the hotel which was at the same time of their 5th anniversary. The waiter really helped and supported us as we both felt still very weak. The next morning we checked out and were presented an incorrect invoice. A surcharge was presented for 5k shilling which later appeared to be included in our booking via booking.com. We were never informed of any surcharge, complained and we told that we are not gonna pay that wrong bill. The manager was informed and whispered something with the receptionist and the receptionist again asked us to pay the wrong bill. Meanwhile our driver was waiting for one hour for us. Again we refused to pay the bill, but the manager left already without talking to us. After one hour another lady of the office took over the contact with us and admitted the surcharge was wrong. I explained the whole situation once again and finally got a sorry for the way they handled us. Again a new bill was presented in the wrong way (KES 2600 extra) with orders we didn’t make and were not signed by us. I asked for explanation and the answer we got was that it was a bill of a client who stayed in our room before us. I gave them feedback on all of this that it was all very unprofessional, almost feels like a scam and very bad to not offer sick guests bottled water and follow up on their medical status. We left this place with a very bad feeling, which should have been a nice end of our holiday period, especially as the standard of service and hospitality in Kenya is always top notch in general. For a high class hotel we should have expected much better and feel bad that we are urged to give a very negative review like this.
