Lovely Spacious Rooms, but Serious Bathroom Cleanliness and Drainage Issues
We stayed for two nights while attending my sister's wedding at the venue. The wedding itself was absolutely perfect. The venue was beautiful, the food was amazing, and we had a fantastic time celebrating. The bedrooms were also lovely and spacious, which was particularly appreciated as we were travelling with children. There were certainly many positives to our stay, and the venue provided a wonderful setting for the wedding.
Unfortunately, the bathroom in one of our rooms was extremely disappointing, particularly considering we paid £740 for two rooms over two nights. The showerhead was covered in thick, raised, black deposits that appeared to be mould or bacterial biofilm. The extent of the build-up was concerning and suggested that the showerhead had not been adequately cleaned or maintained for some time. There was also extensive black staining around the shower walls, shower curtain, drainage area and fittings, alongside deteriorating woodwork with peeling paint and further black staining. The bathroom was a wet room, but the floor appeared to slope in the wrong direction. Rather than water draining away, it ran towards the bathroom door and remained on the floor for at least 12 hours after 1 person showering. This made the bathroom impractical to use for getting ready, which was particularly inconvenient when attending a wedding. I only noticed the extent of the cleanliness issues later on our first evening and didn't raise them during our stay because of the wedding preparations the following day. However, these appeared to be established cleanliness and maintenance problems rather than minor issues between staying guests. At an average cost of £185 per room per night, I expected a much higher standard. It's disappointing because the bedrooms were spacious and the wedding experience was fantastic, but the bathroom significantly affected our experience of the accommodation.
