There was no central heating, and because the property is in the mountains, it got extremely cold. The host eventually provided a gas heater, but it didn’t feel safe to sleep with it on due to the proximity to the gas. There is a fireplace, but we weren’t given any instructions on how to use it, so we couldn’t rely on that either. One night, we had to sleep without any heating at all because the gas heater started leaking and we couldn’t get the fireplace working. The water heater was inconsistent it would shut off after a few minutes and take hours to heat up again. Because of this, we had to shower together to avoid one of us having to use cold water. There was no washing machine, and laundry services came at an extra charge of R200. Cleaning services were not available on Saturdays and Sundays, and there was no one to take out the trash during the weekend. The microwave was not working when we arrived and had to be replaced. Also, the bed sheets were not changed once during our 7-day stay, which was disappointing. While the views were definitely beautiful, the stay lacked the comfort and care we expected.

Beautiful location and view. Perfect hike on the little lions head behind the house. All amenities available. A great stay.
The wind blowing the fire place chimney made quite a noise, but wasn't too disturbing. Normal coffee (Jacobs/Nescafe) as a quick option for those not keen on strong coffee is recommended.

It is a great place to stay with vies of Hout Bay second to None.
It has a stunning view, with a great neutral tone interior. Beautiful place.
