    Please avoid at all costs! Looks nothing like the pictures

    I can’t warn fellow travellers enough for this property which bears no resemblance to the pictures whatsoever. It is a genuinely grotty place, dirty, smelly, in a building with a lot of noise and ‘dodgy’ neighbours. I prepaid for 1 week as I had to fly to Athens to see my dad, stage 4 cancer, who was hospitalised and in critical condition in a nearby hospital. The owners knew this. They charged me 30 euros (cash) for late check in. When I walked into the flat I could not believe the state of it and how different it looked to the pictures on booking. There was so much noise from the street from people living opposite who were talking loudly until 3am. Every surface was dirty. There was an impossible smell in the flat. I immediately sent a message to the owner saying that I could not stay in the flat - no response. The following day I sent another message saying that I was leaving and could they please consider reimbursing at least some of the 600 euros I had paid? I needed a clean, comfortable, quiet place to be able to rest in between hospital visits. I had to organise a stay elsewhere. They gave me back only 106 euros … and they told booking.com I was a no show. At that point it hit me as to why the flat has had so few reviews even though it has been going for a while. Of course! It made sense. They were making sure I would not write a review because I had not ‘stated’. I had to go to lengths, raise a complaint with booking to at least be able to write a review and warn other people. I am Greek … I am supposed to know better than be ripped off in my own country, right? Apparently not. The lack of empathy of the owners for my situation was beyond belief. Booking.com should definitely review this property. The pictures online should be replaced with realistic ones. And people should choose to go there at their peril. Please do not let this unsuitable space be your introduction to the beautiful, vibrant city of Athens. You can do so much better on the same money!
