    Strong damp/sewage smell on arrival, couldn’t stay, and only a partial refund

    When I checked in, the whole apartment smelled strongly of damp or drains. I told the owner straight away and asked for a refund (on a non-refundable booking), due to it being uninhabitable. She turned down the request before anyone from her side had come to check. Her reason was that the apartment had been fine when it was prepared that morning. That may well be true, but it doesn’t change the state it was in when I arrived. The cleaner arrived later and confirmed the smell, even though she said she had a cold and diffculty with sense of smell. In her messages afterwards, the owner described it as only “a bit of smell” and said the apartment was still functional. I disagree. I was refunded €85.50 of €146 for three nights, less than the two nights I didn’t use. Before arrival, I was asked to send a photo of my ID via WhatsApp, to a number registered as a different business. Booking.com’s own chat was showing a warning against sharing ID details at the same time. I understand Spanish law requires guest registration, but I’d prefer a check-in method that doesn’t involve sending ID photos over WhatsApp.

    Da limpeza, da simpatia da Cristina, do Jacuzzi, da paz e calma do lugar.

    Dos bancos altos da cozinha e da mesa alta, preferia uma mesa normal com bancos ou cadeiras. Falta uma varinha mágica e um tacho pequeno.. Fazia falta um sofá e wiFi
